L-Ergothioneine slows the progression of age-related hearing loss in CBA/CaJ mice

Clinical research on ergothioneine

Compelling new research from the University of South Florida indicates that L-Ergothioneine may slow the progression of age-related hearing loss in a preclinical rodent model. Ergothioneine treatment also reduced serum biomarkers related to cochlear inflammation and cell death. Further, even though the sample size was very small, Ergothioneine seemed to increase lifespan in these animals! This lifespan finding aligns with the previous study we posted about research in Japan.

This adds to the growing body of evidence that supports the role of Ergothioneine as a 'longevity vitamin,' with potential wide-ranging benefits for promoting health and longevity, including age-related hearing health.
